Pohang No. 1 hot rolling mill has been completed innovation, capacity expansion

In July 3rd, after the completion of all preparations and tests, Pohang began its commercial production at No. 1 hot mill, Pohang plant. 

The project includes not only the engine systems that are designed to increase rolling capacity, but also the distributed heat collection system that increase energy efficiency. The control system of this system is upgraded by the technology developed by Pohang.

Therefore, the modified hot rolled production line can produce all kinds of high strength steel products, so that the total production capacity of Pohang WP products can be increased to 7 million tons. This can’t be done before the transformation of production line. In addition, due to the replacement of the old control system, it is expected that it will reduce the number of shutdowns to a large extent, and the quality of production will be improved in colleagues.
